Detour - Road Trip Takes Unexpected Turn

John Scofield at the Gathering of the Vibes

report filed 7/8/00, 8:21 am est - Call me a slacker. It's OK. I can take it. I know it's been a couple of weeks since updating the website. Tough noogies. Been on the road conducting research and gathering material for the great American novel. Code name - the Green Notebook Project. It's a fast and twisted story of romance, time travel, and the big beat. Can't divulge any more at this time though - due to the highly sensitive nature of the GNP, we will be operating on a 'need to know' basis from this point forward...

OK, back to our regularly scheduled program. Last time out our hardworking crew was making preparations for the long road to the Jammy Awards in New York City and then the Gathering of the Vibes Festival in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Did both and had a mighty fine time in the process. Look for reviews of both events in the September issue of Relix magazine. In the mean time, check out a little mood piece on the two events that appeared in the Las Vegas Weekly.

After the Vibes festival, I made an unscheduled road trip to western Massachusetts for the annual Hooligan bash and then eastward to Marblehead for the 4th of July Arts Festival there. Got back to NC the night before last and am currently digging my way out from under a taller than usual stack-o-doo-doo-to-do (repeat that a few times - sorta sounds like the background vocals to a Lou Reed song)...

So there ya go, hopefully we're leaving you smiling and singing, not a bad deal considering the price of admission... check back in a week or two for more song and dance, when our little adventure in music journalism continues....
